NYPD Equipped With Sound Cannons

4:30AM
It is being reported on UStream channel  “The Other 99” that NYPD came equipped with Sound Cannons to Liberty Park. The OWS Facebook page confirms that the police are employing this weapon. This weapon was deployed against protesters in the G20 summit in Pittsburgh.

The Israeli government is reported to have sent these weapons to the Egyptian government providing a military industrial complex link to the Arab Spring.

LRADs, as they are called, are legal under international law but very painful. I have to stress that this is a surplus of the military industrial complex to city police. This is the end result of supporting wars in other countries. The technology that gets developed is eventually going to be used against us.

Police wearing helmets and carrying shields moved to evict protesters with the Occupy Wall Street movement early on Tuesday from the park in New York City’s financial district where they have camped since September. Authorities declared that the continued occupation of Zuccotti Park — which had become a sea of tents, tarps and protest signs with hundreds of demonstrators sleeping there — posed a health and safety threat. Scores of police barricaded streets around the park, which had been lit up with spotlights, and were keeping people about a block away. More people were arriving at the scene to support Occupy Wall Street after the protesters sent out a mass text message alerting followers to the raid.

There are people vandalizing and provoking in masks. Media activists involved in the protests since the beginning report that the people involved in vandalism don’t look like familiar OWSers. Yet, the mood in the occupation is grim because so much equipment was damaged. Apparently, there is a video circulating of multiple protesters beating a police officer. OWS disown such actions.

6:00AM
There have been two separate reports of the police using tear gas.

Vanessa Guillen: MST Martyr?

Vanessa Guillen was bludgeoned with a hammer, on base, in the armory, her remains were removed in a box. Several people saw, now deceased due to suicide, Aaron Robinson struggling with the box the night Vanessa disappeared. Guillen was a private and Robinson was a specialist. They both worked in the armory but in the army that small rank difference means a lot, and many, (if not most) exploit that.

Prison Abolition in the Age of Coronavirus

In the Prison Abolition Movement, it is a well-known fact that Police have a shared history with Slave Catching. There was a need to capture runaway slaves in metropolitan areas before that there was no need for police. Most of the lynchings of Jim Crow South were well attended and represented by police and how enforcement is distributed today is reflection of that history. Too many police and prison guards are former military to ignore the link to the prison industrial complex.

  1. I have the feeling we are going to see a lot of new anti-protester technology being used in the near future.
